Set default for Scheduled Reminders job to 'every time cron job runs'
September 08, 2014, 01:43:07 pm
The default is now 'daily' but scheduled reminders can be set to hours before or after a trigger event. If a reminder is set to, let's say 1 hour before an event starts, but the scheduled job is set to 'daily' the reminder will likely go out after the event has passed.

Since reminders don't get sent multiple times unless defined as recurring, setting the default of the scheduled job to 'every time the cron job runs' would be the most logical setting assuming most people will run the CiviCRM cron job more often that every hour.

Re: Set default for Scheduled Reminders job to 'every time cron job runs'

This sounds sensible to me.  I imagine others might complain that it would be running the job too often, but if there are no scheduled emails to be sent then it should have minimum impact, and it can always be throttled down if people don't need it to be run so often / it affects performance.

I think this would be a fairy trivial patch to submit.  To give it maxium chance to getting into core I would

1) create an issue
2) (if you are able to write the patch) do so, test it, and file a pull request with the patch
