I have a custom field which is Date/Select Date and it's currently set up in the format M yyyy (Dec 2009). When you choose a date you have to specify a day anyway but it just doesn't show when the date is displayed on the contact record. I'd like to show the date instead as d MM yyyy (31 Dec 2009). Before doing that I just want to check that I won't lose all my existing data - it will merely be displayed in a different format.

I have tested this by changing the date format of a new field and it was fine but our existing data has been there for several years so I wanted to check with you too, in case there were implications of doing this with old data, to ease my paranoia about the change! Many thanks.
