Outbound Messages sent based on Preferred Language

I run a civiCRM/Joomla site where the site is published in English and French.

When creating an account in civiCRM (by completing a contribution form for example), we ask the user for their Preferred Language.

We had hoped that civiCRM would use this information to then send confirmation emails in the preferred language (as we have set up English and French alternatives in the various contribution forms where language alternatives can be provided).

But I'm not sure that civiCRM does indeed do this -- can anyone confirm?

i dont think civi uses the preferred language currently in its email communications

would be a good enhancement to develop and contribute back

Sure! I'm agree with both.

And in addition would be interesting also be integrated with CiviMail component, for example, enabling a filter by preferred language in the remitent selection for a mailing. In our organitzations we send two newsletters in two different languages and for the moment we manage this mailings with diferents subscription groups. But we like to treat these groups as once and then segment the communication with the preferred language filter.

It seems that this enhancement would be easy to integrate with the new recipient options in the new version of the component of CiviMail at 4.6.
