PCP supporter profile and duplicates
September 16, 2014, 01:30:00 pm
I'm working on the direct URL access to personal campaign pages because I want to send it out to a list of contacts.  Once I was able to correctly craft the URL for Wordpress, I can get to the account information page.  The supporter profile I'm using has just first name, last name, and email address.  I set the profile according to the documentation and have account creation required selected.  For duplicates I have it set to update the matching contact.

Problem I'm running into is that I'm always getting the "There is already an user associated with this email address. Please enter different email address." despite having the option of update the matching contact on.  Most if not all of the folks I'll be sending this to will have existing contact records.

Not sure where to go from here.

Thanks!

Dan C

It sounds like the error you are getting isn't from Civi, but from Wordpress because there is already a user account existing.  Try setting the account creation to optional and fill out the form without filling it out and see what happens.

Thanks for the assistance!  I switched the account creation to optional and am still getting the duplicate error.  I ran it a few different ways (with account creation optional and duplicate matches to update existing record):

existing civicrm contact + no wordpress account -> error message
existing civicrm contact + existing wordpress account -> error message
no civicrm contact + no wordpress account -> gets to Step 2

It's starting to look like the "What to do upon duplicate match" setting is being ignored or misinterpreted.  If I put the setting to "Allow duplicate contact to be created", it will (at least on my one test account) actually update the matching contact and not create a duplicate.

Odd!
