Hi there. Please excuse my CiviCRM newbieness...

Is it possible in CiviCRM/Drupal to have profile fields that are viewable and editable only to admin users (and not the user themselves). In our organization, we currently keep some administrative information in our user database that is viewable only to our admins. The user cannot view nor modify this information.

In drupal, it seems that this isn't a standard capability, I was wondering if this is possible using CiviCRM.

Hi - I'm not sure if you're using "profile fields" in the Drupal sense (any extended data stored about a user)... or in the CiviCRM context (data fields which are explicitly exposed to the user or a set of users)?

In general, ALL CiviCRM data and functionality are only viewable and editable by permission. In the simplest case you can setup a CiviCRM Admin "role" and only grant permissions for CiviCRM functions to your Admins. If you want some CiviCRM stored data about contacts to be viewable or editable - you use CiviCRM Profiles to exposed specific fields:
