Downgrade 4.5 to 4.4.5
September 19, 2014, 03:37:55 am
I had updated the civicrm installation but are not able to perform the database upgrade too, so I assume that only the core files in the com_civicrm are updated jet. Of course civicrm is not working anymore while other parts of the joomla site are not affected.

As the upgrade failed I wanted to restore the backup using xcloner and/or the sqldump database-sql-sql or the corresponding zip file but this did not work either because 1000th of civicrm errors like: Duplicate entry...
Using phpmyadmin it already fails importing the first civicrm_acl table. (this was loaded to a different directory than the original site to not destroy anithing)

Now I wonder if I just can reload the original 4.4.5 data to the com_civicrm and work with the existing database as it was not re-configured with the 4.5 database tool.

Does anybody have a tipp? It is kind of urgent! Without civicrm I had never a problem to restore something from xcloner or sql file...

OK it is working again with version 4.4.5 - so far it seems to be without error, i just loaded the 4.4.5 installation zip file using the component installer of the old joomla installation...

So I have  now time to figure out with a clone installation how the correct update procedure may work...

Sorry, I didn't see this yesterday for some reason.  I'm glad you figured out the downgrade.  To restore the database you would have needed to either empty or drop the tables before you import the backup.

Why were you not able to perform the database upgrade?  Did you never get the link to do it, or did it fail part way through?  If it failed part way through you might have other issues and it would be good to get the database backup restored.  If it you never got the link that is something that needs to be addressed and would be good to know.
