Can "Current and Upcoming Events" be put in a block?
September 23, 2014, 07:14:19 pm
I have just discovered the "Current and Upcoming Events" feature in Civi.  Until the last Civi update, we had a View that listed events in a block on the front page.  I would like to go with something a little less home-cooked and use the "Current and Upcoming Events" feature, but I would like to display it as part of the front page in a block rather than on its own.

Can this be done without hacking code?  I am doubting it myself, because I've looked at that page on several sites and have never seen it used as part of another page.

Thanks!

Views is the standard way of doing this, afaik. Nothing wrong with doing that.
Try asking your question on the new CiviCRM help site.

Yeah, I guess I need to learn how to use it.  It's been Greek to me so far.

Okay, I just noticed, in my block list, a block called "CiviCRM Upcoming Events," but I can't get it to display.  I have it enabled for all content types, and it is set (for testing purposes) to display on every page in the main content pane.  I also have given the "View Event Info" permission to even anon users.

Any ideas why this block won't show up?

nope - unless you didn't set its 'which pages to show on' correctly - by default it is set to only show on civi pages, so won't show up on drupal side but sounds like you tried that.

i just added it to our site to confirm it all worked fine and it did.
