CiviMail: trackable mailto URLs?
May 20, 2008, 05:28:41 pm
I noticed on a mail that went out this morning that CiviMail had converted the mailto links to trackable URLs.

I wouldn't have thought that CiviMail would try and track any non-HTTP URLs. It might be that the user sending the mailout had pasted the linkage in from Yahoo! mail - I noticed that the same links had a "ymailto" attribute.

Does CiviMail try to track any URLs which are not http:// prefix? Does it track https:// urls?

Hi Pankaj

I had a check, and the user must have composed a message in Yahoo! mail, then copied it to CiviMail.

On further investigation, I found the mailto links in the original mailing looked like this:
Code: [Select]
<a href="http://uk.f328.mail.yahoo.com/ym/Compose?To=xurizaemon@gmail.com" target="_blank" ymailto="mailto:xurizaemon@gmail.com " rel="nofollow">xurizaemon@gmail.com</a>

CiviMail is performing correctly, it was a user error.

Thanks for your answer
