Searching for multiple tags concurrently
September 25, 2014, 09:29:21 am
In version 3.0.2, is it possible to search for multiple groups and tags at once? There is no and/or search operator available, and I am wondering if this is a result of working with an older version of CiviCRM.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Sounds like you've got yourself a genuine antique version of Civi.
The latest version can do it for sure. I really don't know about 3.0.2. I've been using Civi for years but that version is even before my time.

We've many sites on 4.0.5 and the advanced search operator does not appear to work on them, either groups and tags and custom fields with multi-select does not returns results if multiple choices selected even though individual selections in the field work. Sounds like short of code being written it would have to be smart group / custom  searched but the advanced search for the most part cannot handle it am referencing http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php?topic=23746.0. 4.0.5 is not the latest version, that was released over 3 years ago. 4.5 is the latest, released last week, and it definitely can search by multiple groups and tags at once using search builder. There is also a custom search called include/exclude search which can do it, and it may be included in versions as old as yours. Look and see.

We'll have to check those and weigh ease of use vs. adding code to have tags - groups work in simple drop down in the advanced search. Thanks! H

Looks like we added the code and it now works this way from basic advanced search in v 4.0.5.
