Vanishing Name fields
September 26, 2014, 01:03:04 am
I tried to update following the instructions (to 4.5 on WP) but when I got to the update link stage I was sent back to my wp-user login screen, and then to my wp dashboard. and although Civi looked like it was there on my Wordpress dashboard, I opened it there was nothing doing.

As I had barely made any changes before 'updating' (and was happy to start again) I just uninstalled the plugin, deleted my username and database, before reinstalling from scratch.

It was all going fine until I realised something must be wrong with the 'Name' part of the install... When I hit 'New Individual' or 'new activity', I get no 'Name' field. The prefix/name/suffix line is just not there.

What have I done...?!? Keen to keep working at using Civ but a bit stuck here.

Thanks!

under different circumstances we had an instance of first/last not showing

problem was with c_templates

try clearing those out and checking the permissions on that folder

4.5 includes the ability to turn certain name fields off (e.g. you can disable Prefix if you're not using it). Can you go to Administer -> Customize Data & Screens -> Display Preferences and check which ones are enabled?
