Translation of table definitions to another database platform
September 26, 2014, 11:19:52 am
I need to implement a CRM system quickly and do not have time to learn Linux and php, so I was thinking of translating parts of the CiviCRM database to get things started.

I was thinking of a simple translation program to read the XML table definitions and turn it into scripts for the target system, SQL Server and .Net.

Anyway, has anyone done anything like this?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The below is an awfully big project and you might want to make sure Yiu have enough time and resources before you embark on it.

We will probably not implement the whole thing.
The plan is to start with the contacts so people can start entering data while we work out which other parts we may need.

why not get a civi set up installed by someone like civihosting while you sort things out, then relocate it. i don't fully understand what you are envisaging but it sounds like you might be swimming against a strong current
