Survey - Reserve Respondents from Advanced Search
September 27, 2014, 09:51:08 am
Hi Everyone -

I've asked this before and tried to contact Progressive Technology about it without any response, so I'm going to try again.  I'm really just hoping someone, either with more coding skills than me or with additional financial resources they'd like to pool with me, would be interested in working with me to try to get this done.

I would really like to be able to Reserve Respondents for Surveys from the Advanced Search action options.  Right now, you can only reserve respondents from a unique form that has few options other than reserving by group or a few geographic fields.  This adds an extra step, as we have to create a special group any time we want to Reserve Respondents to survey a particular subset of our contacts that is not necessarily geographical.  It would be much more convenient to just select the contacts we want to survey using Advanced Search, and reserve them, without any extra steps.

In other words, the Reserve Respondents choice would have to be added to the - actions - drop down box on the Advanced Search results page.  After choosing Reserve Respondents and clicking Go, the user would be taken to the form to choose the Survey for which they wished to Reserve Respondents, and from there the steps for Interviewing Respondents would be the same as they are now.

I don't think I have enough coding skills to do this, and I'm not sure how much it would cost, but if anyone is interested in adding this functionality, please respond!!!

Many thanks,

Leslie

Hi Leslie,
I don't know who you reached out to at PTP, but I agree, this is a good suggestion, but I'm not sure that it's much of a show stopper.  For the survey workflow, we recommend that you do create a group of people that will be in the phonebank/survey.  Generally speaking, you'll find it handy to know who and how many you are calling before reserving and calling anyway.

for what's worth, here's a link to our documentation page for PowerBase, our version of CiviCRM.
