Integration with FreeAgent online accounting
October 01, 2014, 02:15:15 am
I have a client who has been using CiviCRM for several years for memberships, events and bulk mail. They use FreeAgent (www.freeagent.com) for their bookkeeping/accounting needs. FreeAgent is a popular system with over 35000 users.

It would be great to be able to integrate CiviCRM with FreeAgent so that my client didn't have to double handle all their event registrations and membership sign-ups/renewals.

I'm wondering if anyone else has considered this integration, and maybe even done something about it? My client is pretty small and doesn't have the budget to fund the work required by themselves, but maybe if others out there have a similar interest it might be possible to pool resources?

Graham:

What kind of integration did you have in mind? I think the lack of of the Class field for QuickBooks integration needs to be addressed, and I've been thinking of an approach that might improve the current accounting integration for all accounting systems. Basically, it would involve using a profile to define what fields - both standard and custom - get exported in the accounting batch, thereby allowing users to define whatever fields they need to export to their accounting system. I just started thinking about this yesterday, so I don't have any detail yet, but was going to start asking around to see if this approach made sense to others.

Any interest in discussing?

Thanks,

Guy
