Question about CiviCase types
October 02, 2014, 08:52:29 pm
I updated from version version 4.4.6 to 4.5.0. My environment has a number of case types  defined using the older file system XML files approach.  I am now reviewing the case type definitions post upgrade.

Question: Is it allowable to have spaces in the "name" for a case type? The current machine names for one of my pre-existing file system based cases is "Prospective Member Process"     If spaces are not okay, what is the recommended processes for cleaning this up? (I have a number of cases already associated with this case type)

In the absense of a definitive reply, the best thing to do would be to try this on the demo site. If it works, then you should be OK adding spaces.

On the public demo for 4.5, if I click the unlock icon on the new case name then try to use a space in the machine name, I get the message "WARNING: The case type name includes deprecated characters."

My plan is to clean up my case type names to get rid of spaces, etc before I do the upgrade to 4.5

Have you read https://civicrm.org/blogs/dave-greenberg/civicase-users-alert-please-wait-451-upgrading . This is not directly related to your issue, but I wanted to make sure you were aware of it.
