Membership Import - Custom Fields etc...
May 21, 2008, 01:55:23 pm
I've gone in to the process for importing a CSV file. The preview looks nice and my file is healthy.

There are fields in my file which I need to map to nonexistent fields in the CRM. I am assuming there is a way to add fields to the Individual Membership type so I can pick in Import Mapping?

I did a dry preview run skipping the fields I couldn't import. There were a tonne of "can't import - country field wrong" when the data in the country field is USA or CANADA. I'm not understanding something here.

Please advise.

Cheers,

Adam

If you have USA it won't pick it up as the list offers it as United States! Seems it doesn't even specify that it is the "United States of America" (dare I suggest that there is only one real United States hence it doesn't need the 'America'  ;))
Also, if you haven't you will need to go in to GLobal Settings/Localisation and set the countries you want available

Thanks for the assistance. If my import contains USA and CANADA as the inputs - is there a way to map through on import? The entries coming in are consistent.

Cheers.

You mean have the Google map running while you import? If so yes but best done only on small batches. It is on Step 1 of import.

No, he is wondering if the script can just figure things out from the existing text.  I'm having the same problems.  I just tried importing 101 records and 101 of them failed due to one issue or another...  This is a pain in the ass.

@KPalicz - happy to try and explain what might be missing for you but would need more info

@nimzie - if your countries are in a column and that column is mapped to 'country' in civiCRM then where is the problem occuring?
