4.5.0 - How to switch registration to different contact? [Feature Request?]

Anyway there could be a clever patch/workaround to do this via back end UI?

Sometimes we have registrations that need to be given away, switched to a different contact. Would be nifty if the contact field was editable on the event record.

You mean the back-end UI? e.g. from http://d45.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/event?reset=1

Could the name be switched from here (at the top?)
Or when you select "change selections"
Or maybe a button that says "Move to another contact?"

Could the contribution/payment be left on the original record, but the registration moved to the new record?

Sure, what do you think it would take?
On the backend I have just been going to the civicrm_participant table and changing the contact_id column.
Perhaps there would need to be more done as far as moving the contribution. But, in my scenarios, the original person paid for someone else, so technically the contribution could remain on the parent record. Interesting.

Depending on the final scope and spec on the project, i would estimate that this is a 20 hour or so project.
