Newbie question - scheduled mailing
October 07, 2014, 11:33:31 am
I'm new to CiviCRM, so test things before I scale up.

My first mailing looks okay. It shows up in the scheduled mailings list - and has for days. It was scheduled to go out on October 4th but has yet to do anything. It just sits there. What button am I forgetting to push?

Tom

Did you set up a Cron job on your server?  And did you enable the scheduled job in Civi?  You can find instructions for both in the wiki: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Managing+Scheduled+Jobs

Thanks. CRON sounds like some sci-fi planet. Learning every day.

Yeah, it does a bit.  You're welcome and post back if that doesn't solve the problem.  I expect it will though, the cron jobs are what allows the server to trigger specific scripts at specific times.  Without those Civi (or any php script) isn't capable of triggering at a specific time, they need to be told that it is time to run.
