Demographics add custom fields

I recall (or am I dreaming) that there was a discussion about converting the demographic section of the contact summary screen to a profile so that extra fields could be added without having to customize a template. Did this conversation die or am I remembering incorrectly?

I remember 'asking' about it - having them as a RESERVED set of  custom fields that can be added to seems like a good us

there has been talk about this in the past, but no one has pursued this as yet (as far as i know)

would be good to replace all the  "hard coded assumptions" (demographics / comm preferences etc) as customizable entities in future versions

developers or sponsors needed :)

if i had to guess, i'd say its a 40-50 hour project with documentation, tests and upgrade code (if needed)

contract and rates are on the wiki
