Easier Way to Create Custom Report? [SOLVED]
October 14, 2014, 08:20:58 am
Hello,

Is there a way to make a custom report in CiviCRM that doesn't require any coding/programming skills? The current method I know is not user-friendly enough for non-coders/programmers to create a new custom report. Is there some other way to create a custom report that I am missing out on?

Thanks.

It depends on what you mean by "custom report", I have seen it used two ways:

1) A report that just needs a set of criteria saved that is different from the default on a given template.  In that case you can just give it a new name and click Save As at the bottom of the criteria and filters panes once you have set your default values and you have your new report.
2) A report that needs new filters or fields added that no current template has (or you have to use multiple templates combined to get).  This requires you to do programming like you said because you need to make changes to the Template or PHP files.  That has not changed.

Sometimes you can get the information you are looking for using search builder or on of the other search options and then doing an export.

What danc said - but also you can sometimes use Search Views to get what you want as well.

Also, the Summary Fields extension bridges the gap between many popular reports and searches.
