Suggestion: Weighted State Options
May 22, 2008, 10:37:48 am

My site uses a custom database script and when entering a member's state we have it customized to make it easier for data entry.  Internally at least the state that is most common in the database is the one that comes up first.

For example, alphabetically for "N" the state Nebraska comes up first.  But we have very few members in Nebraska.  The most popular N state for our members is New York, and then New Jersey.  So when entering information into the form, you can just tab down to the state list and hit the N key on the keyboard and get New York right away, since it is most likely to occur.

The script automatically changes the state order for each letter based on how many members we have in the database.

Like I said, this makes data entry much easier.  I recommend you guys to implement it.

Would you be eager to share the script with others? It's a good idea, but I'm not sure we can implement it within 2.1 roadmap. Having this script available would make it easier for people with similar requirements.

Thx,
