What is the max lenght of a link for a mailing?

Hi,

We are having problems when sending links that exceed 255 characters in html code, so the system cuts it to 255.

We are using long alt and title attributes...

Any idea about how to solve it?

Maybe you'll have to turn off click-through tracking, then CiviMail will just put in the links as-is.
If you've got your own codes going on in the links then you probably don't need that feature anyway.

Hi Coleman,

What about editing the database field and modify the length up to 1000, for example? Is that a risk? a bad strategy? If you recommend it, what happens with the values already stored?

Or... maybe I can modify the field from varchar to text, right? Again, what happen with the values already stored? all the info must stay...

link field is about 254 chars. I think in 4.4.9 (due out on 5 Nov) longer ones are silently ignored rather than spitting out a horrible error. The fix is also in master - but not sure if it's in 4.5
