Tokens for custom fields that are assigned to a specific contact subtype
October 23, 2014, 09:09:33 am
Hi

We have a CiviCRM system (Wpress and CiviCRM 4.4.6) where there are lots of custom fields assigned to contact sub types. Like 'student' etc
When these were set up there was an assumption that these would be available as tokens as the organisation sends lots of PDF letters to contacts.

But the tokens for custom fields assigned to sub types don't appear in the tokens list. We've looked around and not been able to see anything as to how we can do this.

Any help really appreciated

Cheers
Olly

Olly - did you notice this in a particular version or does it seem to be a general issue on all versions?

Hi Coleman

I've tested this on 4.4.x and 4.5.x.

When I tested out some custom fields I found that:
  • Even though it doesn't appear in the list the token will still get replaced correctly if you manually insert it.
  • This makes it appear in the list: https://github.com/civicrm/civicrm-core/pull/4439
Here's an issue for it: https://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-15523

Coleman,

This isn't the first time or even third time I've seen you respond to a forum post by implementing the fix in code, and I really appreciate it every time I see it.  Thank you!

Thanks Jon for taking the time to say so :D
CiviCRM is only as good as we all make it, happy to do my part to keep it polished.

Hi Coleman

Thanks for looking into this.
I thought we'd done the manual check (i.e. tried {contact.custom_95}) but now I don't think it was tested properly.
Adding the fix to core to core is great though.

Cheers
