Bulk Data Entry Batches
October 23, 2014, 09:59:23 am
I use bulk data entry batches on a regular monthly basis. Whilst the core list of names remains fairly static, there are minor variations every month.

Is there a way to establish a template with the core list so that I don't have to got through that process every month of putting in all the information and just deal with the variations?

Thanks.

Hi Dave - I don't quite follow - can you provide a clearer example/scenario - are you using Batch Update via Profile? What might some rows look like where you 'do' need changes made, and some that 'don't'

Thanks for your prompt response. I'll try and be a bit clearer.

We are a trade union and have people paying their monthly union dues by bankers standing order through their bank. I can download this information from our accounting system and then need to update the members contributions status.

Usually, the list pf people remains much the same every month. Some might drop out and others join. So the core list remains fairly static but with a few variations.

I have been using Bulk Data Entry to input this information. But it seems that I have to start afresh every month when the list remains basically the same. Using Bulk Data Entry has the advantage of updating the membership status according the the Membership Rules that we have established so I have hesitated to use CSV to import data.

I was looking to see if I could avoid put all the names in every time. I was hoping to start off with a pre-determined list and then make the necessary variations.

I hope this is a better explanation of what I was describing.

Thanks.

Dave

Great - and I realise that I speed read and overlooked fact that with $$ there is now Bulk Data Entry as you clearly stated in the original post. Just that I have never used it so didn't pause to think before firing back my question.  ::)

We'll await someone with some useful input now.  :-X
