Using referral links to see how campaigns result in donations
October 27, 2014, 01:30:19 pm
Hey There,

I have been looking around for a solution to a request a client had to make it so we could tell where the donations came from. This made me think there had to be a way to create referral links so you can check how various mail/tweet/fb/affiliates performed in terms of donations given. It seems like a pretty darn useful feature and am surprised its not brought up more.

I found this https://civicrm.org/node/562 which was written in 2009 for 2.2.2 so I have got to imagine theres better hook methods to do this.

Am I just missing some huge built in feature or is this something that exists as an extension or something? Any pointers would be awesome or maybe this would be a good project to try and fund (I can see what I can do with my client).

Thanks!

Would be good to get this into core civicontribute as it is definitely a huge feature. Would be great if you and your org can help spearhead the design and implementation

The blog post should be a good start, but i would first do some research and figure out the latest in tracking technologies and ensure we incorporate that
