[resolved] Event tokens and testing scheduled reminders
October 30, 2014, 08:56:29 am
Hey there,

The majority of our emails are event related and it seems as though event tokens are being removed from the body but not replaced with anything. I've tried sending and writing these messages from both the event's scheduled reminders and the global scheduled reminders thinking maybe doing so granted some sort of event context. Neither seems to have made much difference.

None of these seem to be outputting anything:
  • {event.balance}
  • {event.title}
  • {event.event_id}
  • {event.event_type}
Any suggestions on where to look and to debug why this might be happening?

A follow up question, how are you guys testing your emails? Any protips on how to send an event email to yourself? My approach of creating a event, assigning reminders, adding myself as a participant, and then firing the scheduled job seems very laborious.

Thanks as always!
Eran

The Fancy Tokens extension might help you.

Interesting. Thanks Shai. I'll definitely keep this extension in mind for the future, it sounds like it may be very useful.

FYI to anyone who might be experiencing this issue as well, it was resolved in a recent patch to Civi which can be found here: https://github.com/civicrm/civicrm-core/pull/4409/files

I would presume this will be present in the next release so I'm marking this as solved.
