Update to 4.5.3 causes SQL error
November 08, 2014, 04:59:45 pm
The install proceeds until this SQL query hits:

2006: MySQL server has gone away of the following query:  SELECT COUNT(*) FROM `j331_extensions` WHERE `type` = 'plugin' AND `name` = 'civicrm user management'

When I run the query via phpMyAdmin, it works fine, and returns a count of 1, which is correct.     I check CiviCRM and it shows that the code base has upgraded fine to 4.5.3, if I head over to the Administration menu, I get a notice that a new codebase was found, and I should visit the upgrade page.

I get there, run the script to upgrade the DB, and it runs fine.     However, is the second time I've gotten that error message during an update, the first was for 4.5.2, and the exact same thing occurred.

The first time, I thought it was a time out, but happening again, makes me wonder if there's something else going on.

where are you hosting the site? Typically the mysql server has gone away error is due to various limitations on hosting platforms and/or exceeding cpu time etc
