annual membership at child level
November 12, 2014, 11:28:56 am
Newbie trying to understand how to configure the Annual Membership Relationship?

This is for a youth sports agency. Parents are the ones who pay. But each child must have an annual membership in order to participate in a program.
I'm using the Child Of/Parent Of relationship for registering. So, a parent creates their account and then adds their children who are participants.

What do I choose in the new Membership Type for 'Relationship Type'? The child (participant) must have or pay for an annual membership in order to register for an event.

HI

To help with another example. If an Organisation buys a membership and you want all the employees to 'inherit' it then the relationship is

Employer of

So if you want Parent to buy membership and their children to inherit it then relationship would be

Parent of

Not quite what I need. Each child needs to have their own membership. If the parent has two children they need to buy two annual memberships.

Sounds like your example means the parent (your organization) buys a membership and both children (your employees) would inherit the membership.

If each child needs to have a membership do I need to do anything with the relationship field in the membership?

If the membership belongs to the child - then no, don't use a relationships in the membership set up unless you want to also see that info on the parents Membership tab

in which case you would do the reverse ie set the Membership Relationship to "Child of"

so the Parents will 'inherit' the membership.

but not sure if that adds any useful data for you
