Merge Duplicates
November 17, 2014, 01:48:28 pm
Is it possible to merge duplicates based on ID #s instead of the duplicate rules. For instance, I have 2 contacts, Hopie and Hope. They are the same person so I want to merge their records. I have the CiviCRM Ids is there someway to merge them using their ids instead of having to go through the Merge Duplicate Contacts and then finding or creating the right rule?

You can do that from most searches. Just do a search that returns both contacts (their email address maybe), select them both, and choose merge from the list of actions.

If you can't do a search that returns them both, one alternative is to construct the URL manually replacing the values for CID (100 in the example below) and OID (101 in the example below) with appropriate values for your contacts.

civicrm/contact/merge?reset=1&cid=100&oid=101

Great, thanks. Will that URL work to merge a individual and a household? If not can that be done- I have numerous situations where I would like to make a household an individual now.
Thanks

I am not sure wether you could create an Individual from a household. Because a household doesnt have a first, lastname etc... You can check wether you can change a contact type from the edit screen.

try it and see - also there is a fairly long thread somewhere on this forum about the joys of merging different contact types that you might want to look for and reference.
