Changing the resource URL
November 20, 2014, 07:06:29 pm
I'm trying to change the resource URL from Administer/System Setting/Resource URLs. The changes are not saved but always revert back to the original settings.

CiviCRM 4.1.5

This is causing external links in CiviMail not to resolve correctly so the link goes to the front page of a live site instead of the external link

Did you change it in the settings file also?

I have successfully changed this URL using a script provided by the original developer of the site. The resource URL is correct now but there is still a problem with the URL used to track links in mailings.

CiviMail creates a special URL so that it can track the links. It looks like this:

https://www.democratsabroad.org/sites/all/modules/civicrm/extern/url.php?u=232598&qid=25503480

In this case, www should be preview, which is a test site. The resource URL is https://preview.democratsabroad.org but the URL it constructs has 'www'.

Where does that setting come from?

I think this can be closed. The person doing the testing was re-using an old mail which already had the bad setting.

Working now.
