Manually moved two registrants to waitlist - now Civi thinks event is full
November 21, 2014, 02:36:49 pm
I have an event that is reserved for certain officials; I am allowing anyone to register for it but changed some registrants' status to waitlisted until closer to the day of the event in order to reserve seats for officials.

Now that I've changed those two registrants, new registrants get a confirmation showing that they are waitlisted, and new people who view the event are told that the event is full even though it's not.

Did my editing two participants' status to waitlisted cause this problem?  If so, any idea how to fix it?

Okay, just to update - I changed those two waitlisted folks' status to "awaiting approval," and the message has gone away.  Seems Civi thinks the event is full if there are people on the waitlist, even though there were 24 registrants for an event with room for 50.  Tail's wagging the dog a bit there, I think.

Random guess. Have you set the waitlist people to be counted? By default they are not counted.

Waitlisted people are not counted in the total registrants.

Ah, I (think I) get you now. Sorry, I misread your original posts, hence my strange question.

You are saying that if ANY people are on the waiting list, then CiviCRM presumes the event is full and doesn't bother to check if it actually is full?  Seems like a fairly reasonable assumption to make but I can see how it upsets your work-flow.

I'm not sure that I get your workflow.  You say

"I have an event that is reserved for certain officials" and "I am allowing anyone to register for it". Why are you doing that?

If you still want a hand coming up with a simpler workflow, maybe you want to describe exactly what you are trying to achieve and we can try and help.
