Creating new case types and old xml files.
November 22, 2014, 10:28:49 am
I have a couple of questions about the new CiviCase set up.

First, do we need to keep the old xml files for case types that were created for earlier versions of CiviCRM?  Is there a preferred way (or any way) to move them into the tremendous new ui for case types?

Secondly, I discovered that when I create a new case type, the roles section automatically has Case Coordinator added.  I don't see that role defined in the relationship types set up at civicrm/admin/reltype?reset=1.  Is there a way to set the new case type to open with no roles defined?

If I don't delete that role from the new case type, I get an error on saving.

Thanks again.

I'm really interested in this as well. Did you ever get an answer?

I haven't found anything on moving the XML files into the new interface in an automated way yet, but I did verify what you said about the case coordinator issue.

My question about that is, is it really a significant problem?

Once you create the case types, they shouldn't change that often. So deleting the role when creating the types isn't something you have to do every time you create a case - just as many times as the number of case types that you have. What can that be? 20 or 30 times, if you have a lot of case types? It doesn't seem that onerous.

Am I missing something?

Thanks for the reply.

No, deleting the Case Coordinator role on a case type isn't a big deal.  I can handle it!

I'm more curious about the old xml files and how CiviCase deals with them now.  It seems like we should clean them up.  But again, not a big deal.

Thanks again.
