How to achive this situation?
May 27, 2008, 03:08:29 pm
Hi,

I have a question about how I should/could organize my contacts, but I'll try to write it down as clearly as possible...

I work at an organisation which has 5 other departments spread over the country. How can I make these departments part of the larger organisation? It's just like a multinational, wanting to have all it's contacts together in one place of all the departments all over the world.

After solving the first one, here comes the second. My department is also part of another organisation. It's one of the departments there. (my department takes care of the youth, but there are also other departments).

I hope i didn't make it too difficult?!
Thanks for any tips!!!

The first questions is does it matter if organizations can see one another's records?

If the answer is no, you could just add a field to track the organizational "owner" of each record and focus you search returns on that organizational owner.

The "real" feature you want to read up is ACLs (access control lists). This way people in organization A only see the contacts belonging to organization A. Someone with the right permissions can see all contacts in the database.

Hi,

It isn't about being able to see other contacts, but how to group my contacts and let civiCRM know the relations between all the contacts (persons and organisations)
