Cron Jobs not running
November 26, 2014, 06:26:25 am
Cron doesn't seem to be running the scheduled jobs? I can run the scheduled jobs manually using the execute now option
Any ideas?

Hi Simon,

It's quite likely that your cron job is missing something, is running in the wrong directory, etc.  To troubleshoot, it would be helpful to see your cron job statement.

What happens when you try pasting the cron job statement to the command line and running it that way?  Or is this a shared host where you don't have that access?  Do you have access to the logs generated by cron?

Hi Jon,

Thanks, I am very new to CiViCRM and used to be a software developer but many years ago so am very rusty.

Where would I find the cron job statement?

The server is a shared host so I'm not sure I have access to the command line but I am checking with our
web hosting service.

Cheers
Simon

Allowing cron jobs is a feature of your host. Most hosts allow this. They have a section on their Control Panel by which you can create and edit cron jobs. So first check to see if someone made this cron job for you, i.e. if another developer worked on this site.

If it doesn't exist, then you must create it yourself. Here's how: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Managing+Scheduled+Jobs

Thanks Hershel, I think that's the problem the task wasn't scheduled in the hosts Admin Panel.
