Refunding via batch contibution update
December 01, 2014, 07:42:41 am
Hi all,

I've created a contributions profile to use for batch updates which includes contribution status.
Problem is that not all contribution statuses are available in the dropdown - "refunded" is missing.

Is this on purpose?
I glanced at the Batch.php code but didn't see anything specific.

Personally I find it better to record a second contribution for a negative amount with a status of completed if I need to do a refund.

That way I can keep track of the separate transactions involved and can answer questions on when and how both the original and refund were made.

We used to do that as well but changing the status is easier and less error prone (avoids issues with different amounts or financial types [we have multiple ones]). Technically it records a negative transaction in the background with the new date so a report on transactions rather than contributions will list two records instead of one.
