Possible Make-it-happen projects for WebForm improvements
December 03, 2014, 04:37:05 am
I would like to get some feedback on 2 enhancements I would love to see for the WebForm CiviCRM integration, and if they could be set up as "Make-it-happen" campaigns  (ie what would the cost be, etc)

A) Specify dedupe rule for each contact: For each contact collected in the WebForm, be able to choose a dedup rule.   Currently I am using WebForms for parents registering their children for various programs/events.  Since most children do not have email addresses, the default unsupervised dedup rule does not work very well.  (question: Since CiviCRM 4.5, each event can have a different dedup rule, is this event setting honored by WebForm?)

B) Split a Contribution Record to various line items with different financial types:  For any paid event  or contribution, the resulting contribution record should allow for multiple line items, potentially with different financial types for each line item. In my situation, most of my paid events and donations involve multiple line items with different financial types. Its very limiting not being able to do this within WebForms.  I am guessing the way to implement this would be to enhance WebForms to utilize CiviCRM pricesets.

jfyi: Webform currently creates 1 line-item for each "real" item sold. So if the user pays for 2 events and 1 membership, the record will have 3 line items.

If I wanted to offer the participant the following options:

tuition fee for one student:   $800  (financial type: "tuition")
books and materials:            $50. (financial type: "materials")
Optional Overnight field trip:  $150 (financial type: "trip fund")

Would I need to set up 3 different CiviEvents, then add those 3 events to the one webform?  If the user selected all 3 events in the webform, would that then result in 3 line items in the contribution?

If the financial types were important, you wouldn't be able to do this with a webform at all :(
Currently webform assigns everything the same FT, based on the contribution page used.
I guess that's why this thread is about contributing to make the module better :)

So I should clarify Make-it-happen idea to "multiple line items with multiple financial types".   As you explained, multiple line items (with a single financial type)  are already possible.
