activating CiviCRM kills Wordpress functions

Hoping someone can assist. We have the latest WP install and have successfully uploaded CiviCRM - however when activating the plugin it kills editing functions in posts and pages (in fact the edit panes with content do not display at all). Has anyone else experienced this and have a solution?

Host server is netfirms.ca and using Aqua theme from theme forest

Do you mean you've activated the plugin but Civi is not yet set up and installed?

If so, then it sounds like the same issue as:
https://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-14692

Which is solved by:
https://github.com/civicrm/civicrm-wordpress/pull/64

Though this is a way off being implemented in the default install.
