How should PRIMARY ADDRESSES be clear to users
December 16, 2014, 01:13:53 pm
Was it my imagination that Primary Address used to have the Location eg HOME in bold which made it clear to the casual user which address was primary.

I don't see this in current, but nor do i see it on an old 3.x.x system so maybe it is my memory.

Should this be a feature request? Phone and Email are bold when Primary - why not Address?

Primary address IS the first listed (reading top-to-bottom, left-to-right - not sure if that's still true in RTL languages), but I agree that this is a good idea that probably dozens of us have had and not acted on :)

Thanks Jon

I don't think 'top right' of the 'grid' is enough clue as for new users, they don't know if that is where HOME always sits - ie as far as they are concerned it could be in a 'specific' order and nothing tells them that the PRIMARY is top left - and in a way  bolding on the phone/email kind of makes it unclearer (as it did for me when I was trying to clarify things for a client and made things worse)

I, too, have very definite memories of the primary address location type (and perhaps the address as well) being in bold in 4.2 .

I would be very keen to have this formatting reintroduced.

I am wondering if there were reasons for the change or if it was a regression introduced with some other code change (perhaps with inline editing)?

If there are no objections I will create an issue and if no-one gets to it in the next week or so I will see if I can manage a PR  for it after my festive obligations are over.

You're not dreaming - verified this on http://drupal.demo42.civicrm.org/civicrm/contact/view?reset=1&cid=103

Confused

You verified re Address or re Email?

That record only had email, and yes one was bold = but not so for Addresses when I added them.

Ah, yes I was just looking at email. So I guess this has never been the case for addresses?

Mine also :'(  (or perhaps it was that way on 4.1 which is where I started).

So... what do people think about adding the bold formatting to the primary address or the primary address location to make it tie in with the formatting for the primary email and primary phone?

Would like to push for this to be restored - can we add a ticket?

Then again, maybe I can't  :-\ .

But I have created the issue https://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-16007 .
