generic db error - cannot process donations or other forms [SOLVED]
December 19, 2014, 01:39:38 am
Hi guys, get this non-descriptive error upon submitting any CiviCRM form in the front end ... and also upon logging into Joomla back end.

Sorry but we are not able to provide this at the moment.
DB Error: no such table
Return to home page.

We're in the middle of a fundraiser so this is not a good situation as donations cannot be processed.

Some info:
Joomla 3.3.6
CiviCRM 4.5.4
get the error in multiple browsers
cleared the cache table
cleared the templates_c folder

Thank you so much for any pointers.

Re: generic db error - cannot process donations or other forms or log into back end

Kept on searching for an answer in the forum and folks kept referring to a log file, which I could not locate ... finally was able to find it here: /media/civicrm/ConfigAndLog
The log file told me there was something fishy with the civicrm_acl_contact_cache table (PEAR_Error->PEAR_Error("DB Error: no such table", -18, 16, (Array:2), "TRUNCATE TABLE civicrm_acl_contact_cache ...)
Weird thing was that in phpMyAdmin the table was listed in the left-hand navigation menu (even after a refresh) but when I clicked on it, I'd get an error the table doesn't exist ... hmmm ... when I tried to recreate the table via export/import from a d/b back-up, it would still keep on throwing an error that the table does not exist. I  was able to delete/drop it using a SQL statement (not sure how that worked because the table technically didn't exist... but I guess it semi-existed or something... pardon the layman lingo here)

hopefully this can help someone in the future
