Navigation Menu Link to Custom Search
December 19, 2014, 04:22:49 am
How do I create a link in the navigation menu to a custom search?

I am using a very basic custom search. I am simply searching for every "Individual". I want to then create a link in the navigation menu for "Individuals" so I can click this link and immediately see all individuals rather than having to do a new search every time.

I tried creating a link in the navigation menu using the URL of this basic search I performed (i.e. http://localhost/civicrm/wp-admin/admin.php?page=CiviCRM&q=civicrm/contact/search/custom&_qf_Custom_display=true&qfKey=2urdb1159d6ea23d41d8491e218cc375_7616 ), but once I log out of WordPress and log in again, the link no longer works (I get a blank search page with a notice telling me, "Because your session timed out, we have reset the search page.").

Thanks.

In Drupal, I would do this using the Views module. Rather than saving a search, I would create a view that showed all the needed data. I'm not sure what module does this in wordpress. Perhaps Query Wrangler? https://wordpress.org/plugins/query-wrangler/

It depends on your custom search, have you taken a look at reports --> contacts reports?

If that works for you, you can go to the report settings tab -> Other settings -> Include Report in Navigation

Thanks. I had a look at the reports functions already. Problem is, I cannot execute any action like I can from custom search.

Also would you know how to include More in action menu. It usually appears on default search options. I have a post regarding this in here http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,36318.0.html
