I'm working with a client that uses membership cards. CiviCRM appears to have something of a gap for a membership application, in that it doesn't explicitly provide for the production of membership cards. I guess I might be able to twist the mailing label feature or the print PDF letter feature so that they might work. The nearest fit for my use case is the event badge: it enables me to specify a barcode and include the fields I want, and print on to a suitably sized label format.

A key problem appears to be that this option only seems to be available for a contact that is registered for an event, and not for a contact that has a membership. I'm thinking that to make this tool available in the drop-down Actions menu for any contact, and not just for event participants, might be a matter of a very slight tweak. Any one know how I might be able to do this, or better still maybe it could be enabled in the next release?
