We could not find a contact id
May 31, 2008, 02:25:10 pm
I am wondering if synchronization is not working, or perhaps I don't understand it.

To clean up my CiviCRM contacts list, I exported it, deleted all records (except for the record of the logged-on account - User 1 account) cleansed it and re-imported it.  I then did a "Synchronize Users to Contacts". This returns with the message: "Synchronize Users to Contacts completed. Checked 129 user records. Found 129 matching contact records. Created 0 new contact records."

So the 129 Drupal accounts synched against the 450 odd contact records and reports that there are 129 matches.

However, when I log on with another full-rights admin account , I am unable to access CiviCRM. What this means is that if I am on a Drupal page and click the CiviCRM link in the Navigation menu it flashes and reopens the existing Drupal page, rather than CiviCRM.  If I directly URL into the admin area "./civicrm/admin" I get this message: across the top
"We could not find a contact id. We could not find a contact id. We could not find a contact id." (yes, three times in a row like that).

In addition the Drupal "My account" page does not show user registration data or the » View Contact Record
» View Contact Dashboard links, for any account other than the User 1 admin account.

I have confirmed that there is a record in CiviCRM with a corresponding email addrees to my Drupal account.

Any idea what is wrong?

May be you should try following steps:
1. Delete contacts from civicrm.
2. Re-import contacts to
3. Empty civicrm_uf_match table
4.Run "Synchronization .... ".

I am having the same issue - and cannot find an answer anywhere in the forum.  The specifics:

Drupal 5.7 with CiviCRM 2.0.1 - yes, we plan to upgrade, but cannot do so immediately

Custom Search form following the documentation section of the CiviCRM site, based on Smart Group query.

The message "We could not find a contact id."  appears for users sometimes, but not always when they open the Search form.  Once opened, if they proceed with a search, they do not get the the results and the message and search form remain on the screen.

is this a synchronization issue or a custom search issue? your message is not clear on that

if custom search, is it one of the searches that we ship? if so, which one and can you reproduce on http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/

thanx

I followed the documentation provided at: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Custom+Search+Components

My profile has a number of custom data fields, I have confirmed all are of the "Individual" type.

The message and missing results are intermittent, so it would be difficult to recreate it on demo - I have tried with a user logged in, logged out, and a single user over a period of time may have it happen or not without any logging in or out or other change in setup, configuration or coding on the site.  If you need me to do that, though, I will try.

profile and custom search are not related. Can you explain a bit more on what you are doing and what happens when things go wrong.

please start the discussion on a new forum topic

thanx
