Downloading and installing extensions general question
January 17, 2015, 08:14:10 am
I want to download and install the no overwrite extension on our WordPress civi 4.4.  Is there any reason why I would need to have our hosting/ support company do it?  It's difficult to get this support from our company.

We do need this extension.
Thanks. :-\

Can you explain a bit more about what you've already tried to do to install the extension and what isn't working?

I haven't even tried to download it.  This is the first time I've considered do so & don't want to negatively affect our civi functionality because I do something stupid.  I see I have the ability to download and install.

I have no reason to expect that it wouldn't work, I guess.

Thanks

Is the download and install option within civi sufficient for me to add an extension?
Thanks.

It should be. But maybe I don't understand your question... Have you clicked the button to download & install the extension and it isn't working?

Hi,

It should work, unless your hosting provider has put some extra limitations (but if you have the latest version of civi, it should indicate you potential issues)

Last but not the least: you might need to set up the directory where the extensions are installed, but again hopefully, the online messages are clear enough

Try, "dumb" extensions like the noverride ones can easily be disabled if it doesn't work how you expect it
