Copy Drupal 7 Civicrm 4.4 Installation from live to localhost - SOLVED
January 17, 2015, 08:29:55 pm
I have tried to copy my live installation (debian 7) to localhost (arch linux) so that I can experiment. I have separate Mysql databases for drupal and civicrm. I adjusted my settings.php and civicrm.settings.php at localhost. I exported and imported both databases using mysqldump. I adjusted privileges and users for the databases according to the recommendations for drupal and civicrm at localhost.

The copy seemed to go well but there is one major problem that I can see so far. When I try to save any changes to civicrm settings they do not stick. For example, when I fill in the civicrm extensions path in the Directories setting and click the Save button, it says saved but when I go back to the Directories dialog the field that is supposed to have the civicrm extensions path is blank. Likewise when I try to activate certain civicrm modules like civievent by selecting civievent in the left pane and transferring it to the right pane (activated pane) and press Save. It says saved but when I return to the dialog all modules are still in the unactivated left pane and the right pane is blank.

All directories are owned and writable by the webserver. Mysql users have the recommended privileges and permissions. Mysql passwords are set properly.

It seems as if there is a write or permissions issue with one of the databases but I can't figure out what the problem is.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you.
