Any interest in a Month Overview section in the CiviMember dashboard?
January 18, 2015, 04:06:19 pm
I've been playing around with the membership dashboard to make it more useful and appealing. I have a semi-functional mockup, but was first hoping to solicit feedback about the design and content of this section before pushing it upstream. What are your thoughts?

Looks good, though I haven't used that part yet, so have nothing to compare to. Summary displays are always welcome.

I tweeted this post in hopes of getting more feedback from current CiviMember users. My immediate reactions:
- a bit confused about 'what month' - e.g. current month-to-date, prior month
- Renewing NN% - what does that mean (e.g. NN% of memberships which expire this month were renewed, or ??)
- Total - is that total # of 'current' memberships as of today or ??

What about making this block (or perhaps the entire top portion of the dashboard) an embeddable 'dashlet' based on a new or extended membership summary report? Probably a good bit more effort - but would allow users decide what they want in the view.

+1 on the idea for making this a report that can be a normal CiviCRM "dashlet".  (FYI: Since its called a "dashboard", many end-users already assume it is a dashlet, then get frustrated when they learn they cannot change it)

I'd love to see a more visual dashboard, using civisualize.

sid might be able to give a hand, once we get clearer about what "story" we want the dashboard to tell.

I do like the improved look. Yes, perhaps it needs more clarity about which month the overview is summarizing.

The 4 overview sections could have small help symbols next to them (blue ? like other items in Civi) to specify what the numbers mean.
I am not clear on what the right hand column which shows 41,135 and $50,321.05 is referring to.
