Mismatched contact IDs OR Mismatched contact Types :
June 03, 2007, 12:10:50 pm
I was trying to do a mass update of organization records with new data, and all of the records were rejected with the above message.  The odd thing is that the exact same procedure worked fine on a file of individual records.  I am using a CSV file that just has the internal contact ID in one field, and the new data in the other field.  The import is using the "fill" option.  Any ideas?

I've recreated this and played with mapping options a bit. There is a bug of sorts, in that it looks like we're not paying attention to the Internal Contact ID - at least in the case of Organization imports. I've filed a fix for this for 1.8:

http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-1964

In the meantime, in my testing I found that if you map the Organization Name for your update import - the records will import succesfully - UNLESS you have multiple organizations with the exact same value for Organization Name. I think this behavior is due to the fact that we're doing duplicate matching for Organizations ON the Organization Name.

Thank you.  I do have duplicate org names that are correct.  For example we keep track of a lot of churches, and you might imagine how many "First Methodist Church" or "Trinity Lutheran Church" contacts there are in Pennsylvania -- about a half dozen of each as I recall.  So I need something like the internal ID field to distinguish them.
