CSV errors
January 22, 2015, 08:00:30 pm
I imported one file- about 100 records- into Civic CRM and it went fine.  I tried to import a second file - first with all 1000 + names and then with just 500.  I keep getting the error message that it must be in a CSV format. I double checked, even opening the file in Word to make sure it was CSV, but still I get the error message.  I cleaned up the headers so there were no special characters in there and I made sure the date was formatted properly. Any thoughts?

Hi Jerry,

Can you post the exact error message here?  And maybe your header with a sample line or two (anonymized)?  That will let people better troubleshoot.

When you get the error, does it appear on screen?  Or does it appear in a CSV that you get by clicking a "Download Errors" link?

I think Word can also add non-standard characters.  I always open things in Notepad.
