Change Date Format in Token for Thank You Letters

When using the Make Thank You function and creating pdf's of the donation receipt within CiviContribute, the date is formatting with a "th". I searched the forum and found other instances of this but it was back in 2012 and several versions back. Is there a current fix for this?
