Batch Data Entry - membership renewal issues

When exploring the batch data entry for membership, it is not possible to renew membership. Although existing members are auto-inserted once you begin to type the name, the only option available is 'add new member'.

I noticed this issue when we upgraded from 4.2.7 to 4.5.5 and found this issue to existed in the demo site for 4.5. The problem seems to continue in the 4.6 alpha version.
