Disable access to "Contacts - New Activity" for Wordpress roles
January 30, 2015, 01:09:47 pm
How can I disable the access to "Contacts - New Activity" and "Contacts - New Email" ?
I know I can set access rules under Administer CiviCRM - Access Control. But as long as I grant "CiviCRM: access CiviCRM" permission to a role, the role will gain access to "New Activity" and "New Email".
Thanks in advance!

Nevermind, I found it.

Administrator - Customize Data and Screens - Navigation Menu - right click the item - edit - add permission

It's not really possible to disable access to a contact but not their activities, at least not without writing a custom extension.

If you tell a bit more about what your use case (i.e. situation) is, maybe someone can suggest a better alternative.

Thanks for reply.
I am trying to say that even if I deny access to contact, users can still access activities under the contact drop down list. How should I disable them from accessing the activities?

Nevermind, I found it.

It is always helpful to end a topic with a solution, rather than just a "never mind" or "fixed it".

Even if it seems obvious to you now that you know it or even if you just missed reading something, there will be someone else sometime who will have the same question.  We have a search function and some people use it, so a solution at the end would be of use to them.
