Joomla CiviEvent menu error

After I upgraded to CiviCRM 4.5.5 the Joomla menu function for showing an Event Information page quit working correctly. In the basic configuration of the menu item there is a drop down to select the event information page you want to display. It used to show a list of the active events. Now it is only showing events that expired. Interestingly enough the event registration page option works fine.

I'm encountering exactly the same phenomena with 4.4.14
Any solution found?
